What is this book, and who is it for?
The MicroBiota Handbook is a fact-based, accessible guide to what is actually happening inside your gut, and to how this invisible ecosystem shapes your health. At a time when this field is crowded with loud, often unsubstantiated claims, it can be a real help to make clear what we know with certainty, what we strongly suspect, and what we cannot yet responsibly say.
The book offers two perspectives. For lay readers — patients and curious healthy adults — it provides accessible explanations of how your microbiota works, what dysbiosis really means, and which lifestyle changes (nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress, environment, medications) actually influence it. For clinicians — general practitioners, gastroenterologists, dietitians, pharmacists — embedded clinical-knowledge blocks support those who use this material for professional decisions.
At the center sits the disease evidence map (chapter 3): for every gut-linked condition, it shows whether the microbiota's role is causal, associative, consequential, or still only hypothesis-level. This four-tier color code is what distinguishes the book from the marketing material available online: we do not promise more than the clinical literature actually supports.
The 12 chapters and six appendices are built so you can enter at any point — sequential reading is not required. With a symptom-based concern, chapter 10 on diagnostics and the red flags section in Appendix D help first; with a chronic diagnosis, chapters 3, 11 and Appendix F apply; if you want to optimize your health, chapters 4–5 and the 30-day frame in chapter 12 provide support. Our goal is to deliver the quality of a medical briefing on paper — selling nothing, while withholding nothing.
